I’ve been pretty frustrated recently walking along Valencia street. There are quite a few businesses (10+?) that have signs saying the bike lane is killing their small businesses.
This is the first time I’ve seen any signage for any other side and got so giddy reading it!
If you read anything about people hating the bike lanes, it’s almost all about businesses losing public street parking or deliveries and Ubers can’t park in the bike lane anymore. I find it kind of absurd how divisive this has become but it also feels incredibly one sided in terms of reporting and activism. When talking to people on the streets, I feel most are feeling whatever to positive about it.
If you want more context on the local conflicts: https://missionlocal.org/2023/12/data-fails-to-back-claims-of-valencia-bike-lane-kneecapping-business/ and https://sfstandard.com/2023/12/08/san-francisco-small-business-protests-valencia-street-bike-lane/ are a good place to start.
